"I just want to express my gratitude to the New You Boot Camp team - particularly to Staff Wheeler and Watts - for making such a tough but challenging experience so memorable!
My attitude to exercise has totally changed. I no longer regard going to the gym as being more boring than watching paint dry and now look forward to getting my daily fix on the treadmill.
Keep up the good work at NYBC"
Lots of love from Glynis Street - NYBC 20-27 June 2008
New You Boot Camp was a great experience. The week went incredibly quickly and all of our group lost weight and inches and had a fantastic time. I was worried that when I got back to real life and with a job that involves loads of socialising and dinners etc., I wouldn't be able to maintain the diet or fit in the exercise. But I have done both. I have lost more weight - another half a stone - and with the help of the recipes etc., I have found the diet actually, really easy, being able to have a glass of red wine helps obviously!
In July I am going to be cycling from London to Paris to raise money for charity - so that is the next big goal!
New You Boot Camp is brilliant - great team, great fun, great results. I would recommend it to anyone.
Alice Morrison - April Back to Basic
Still sticking to the NYBC ways, lost 15lbs in total now! I am so pleased! I have done various diets and got into exercising in the past but ALWAYS slipped back down the slippery slope. I know I have said this before but Boot Camp has changed my way of thinking and I am not going back! I think it is because you put yourself through that intensive week and that is what makes you realise exactly what you need to do to lose the weight and maintain it.
Sarah - April Back to Basic
Just realised today that I never wrote and thanked you for the fantastic week at Boot camp. I can honestly say it was life changing, I felt totally bereft the first week home.
I am now doing an hours exercise a day and have lost another 4 pounds.
All the Staff were amazing. When you consider how relatively young those guys are, how they cope with 27 over wrought women is amazing.
Thank you so much.
Jo D - May 9-16
This was the most amazing experience and was a completely fantastic week with loads of new friends!
I lost 8lbs and a total of 14 inches including 6 inches from my waist. Starting as a size 16 and I am now a 12-14!
It was hard work, but was not unbearable, and I have now become so much more positive since leaving the camp, which in a weird way I miss being at.
I have lost another 2 lb in the week since leaving and will continue to lose to get back to where I was. I am full of energy and it feels fantastic to be fitter and slimmer, all the comments you will get from people will spurn you on.
All the staff were wonderful and really encouraging to get the most out of you, and the support from the girls afterward really helps when you are having a bad day.
This is definitely a course worth going for.
Faye Quigley - Hereford Boot camp 16-23 May
Six months on... Just another little thank you... ran the race for life yesterday 5k run, I did it in just over 29 mins! My firstly girly holiday in Mexico next week and I’ve gone from buying size 16 to size 10 clothes, and now lost in total 25lbs, I can’t thank you lot enough! x
Vicky Ingram Smith, BACK TO BASICS Feb 08
I'm loving the 'New Me'! I feel so much more confident in everything that I do. Unbelievably I am really enjoying the exercise - did a 1 hour fast walk (80%) with the dog this morning and off to the gym for a new programme at 3pm as my current programme it not working me hard enough! I feel energised, organised and really looking forward to a fantastic future. I'm also wearing clothes that I haven't worn in years and can't wait to lose more so I can go shopping The camp did exactly what it said on the tin a 'New You'. Please tell Staff Penn that I am still on the way to achieving my goals and loving every minute of it!
Thank chef for the julienne veggies (spaghetti alternative) it's a life saver and my whole familty have caught on. Taking a cutter out to my sister in Spain in 2 weeks - you should sell them at the Boot Camp!
Take Care.
Jeanette - Hereford May 9-16th
Having checked the cancellation terms, I realised that the only pounds I would lose if I didn't go were from my bank account! Thus armed with my 10 pairs of walking socks (actually I only took 6 - couldn't believe I'd get through 10) my friend Jo and I set forth to Hereford.
We met at a pub, which we thought was a promising start and spotted the other bootcampers looking either far too glamorous for their own good or scared to death like us!
We decided the scary man who collected us from the pub was without humour and suddenly we wanted to go home, fat, unfit but happy.
On arrival at our home for the next 7 days we were pleasantly surprised by the relative luxury of our room, not that we were to spend much time in it.
For the next week we were put through an enormous amount of physical exercise and were pushed beyond our normal exercise tolerance level, mine being an hours gentle walk. The body is a strange old thing (particularly mine!) and for some reason I was able to keep going and even started to enjoy the full on nature of the week. We were not told anything about the agenda for the week or even, really, for the day. This proved the right decision and we faced each challenge as it was presented without time to worry.
Strangely for me I felt no real hunger and no real pain, apart from aching limbs which only lasted a couple of days. The bruises and bites I was not aware of. My body had kicked itself into a different mode that one grew to like and strangely enjoy. Our 3 instructors, one of which we misjudged totally on our arrival, proved to be an amazing inspiration to us all. Their patience, understanding and motivation was phenomenal and we all grew to love them. The love bit was pretty easy as we had the best looking instructors that boot camp has to offer and getting up so early was made much easier by the knowledge that they would be there waiting for us.
The food was delicious, the activities continuous but varied, and the sense of achievement was immense.
Looking back at what I achieved, and also the other women around me, we can all be immensely proud. I would not hesitate to recommend boot camp to women from all walks of life. You will return home enriched by the experience with a unique bond with the instructors and the other women, who have seen you at your best and worst and who have encouraged you when you thought you couldn't go on. The things I did on boot camp would not have been possible without the commerardary of the others, the sense of team work and the laughter and support only women together seem to do.
My heartfelt thanks go to all the fantastic staff, their dedication and professionalism and to all the women on the May 9-16 boot camp.
I'm happy to talk to anyone who is undecided whether to make this life changing decision.
Husbands, beware, your wife may never be the same again!
P.S. I did need all those socks
Augusta X - May 9-16
It's getting on for 2 months now since I finished boot camp. Tonight, out of pure curiosity, I dug out the weights and measurements from the end of the week to see whether much had change. I'm delighted to say that it has - for the better!
I have now stabilised into a routine, and (thanks to the gorgeous staff Ferguson and Andrew) have managed to incorporate new fitness techniques into my daily habits too.
So... drumroll...
I'm between 3 and 4 inches smaller than when I left camp, and have got back to a really healthy weight that's around half a stone below what I was at the end of camp.
For me, given I have my Dad's physique as a firefighter and will never be small, I'm so pleased. I feel so alive and full of beans - I'm driving my husband nuts because I'm running rings around him. But to be fair, he's so pleased with my progress and can't seem to get enough of my slimmed down curves. At the end of the day, the reason I went on the camp in the first place was because I wanted to look good enough for him. So I have achieved that goal, and more.
Anyway, just thought I'd drop you a line to say all is well and I've kept things going. Hope everyone at camp is doing well and lovely Dave is still in the kitchen. God I miss his soups!
Love to everyone,
Jane - Back to Basics March 08
Just to let you know that I lost another half a stone in the last two weeks, after I left boot camp. I am so pleased. I have been following your recipes - including snacks - and getting slightly addicted to boiled eggs. Also been following Staff's advice on exercise - and want to keep a lot of the different activities going. So, just thought I would let you and everyone else know that Boot Camp is STILL working for me and it is brilliant.
Alice Morrison - Back to Basics April 20th -27th
Further to our chat yesterday, I weighed myself at home to see the fat loss ratio. I have a pair of Tanita scales which you have to add your age and height. It then gives you your weight, body fat % ratio, bone mass, water % ratio, resting calories required, muscle ratio and fitness age of your body.
I weighed myself the day I left and on return weighed 10lbs lighter, my body fat had gone down from 36.2% to 32.9%. Staff T thought I would probably have lost about 3% body fat based on the measurements that had been taken at boot camp. He was pretty spot on! My water ratio had also increased by 1%. My fitness age had also come down 9 years, although I can’t quite remember if I checked that reading before I came or a few weeks before. Either way, delighted as only 2 years off my actual age, so only another 12 to go to reach my youthful target. It was great to know that I had lost weight but even better when I thought of how much fat it was. Makes me feel quite yuk thinking about it but it is about 20 packs of butter.
I also visited my GP yesterday and he used a far more advanced machine to check all the above measurements and they came in pretty much the same as I had, so I think the scales are pretty acurate.
It was a great week.
Katie (Leadbeater) New You Devon May 17th -24th
Well what can I say, bootcamp utterly changed my life... have lost loads more and it keeps coming off despite hotel breakfasts and wine lol ! Only problem is my trousers are now all hipsters and are dangerously close to falling off... need a bonus to get more clothes! Am so looking forward to the ball (when is it?) so I can show off the new me! Am having a get together with some of the girls tonight in Covent Garden which will be a right giggle...
Shelley Palmer - April 12-19 Devon 2008
I have just returned from New You Boot Camp and wanted to say a big thank you for all the help and support that I was given while I was there. I have returned home to Jersey a much stronger and more determined person as well as being 9lb lighter and 10 inches thinner!
The staff that are employed by New You Boot Camp are fantastic and each and everyone of the staff that was at New You during my stay knows how they helped me and for that I am grateful.
I went to New You Boot Camp to lose weight, get fitter and improve my eating. I am/was an extremely fussy eater and if you would have told me before I went to New You that I would have eaten even one of the 21 meals or 14 snacks we had while there, I wouldn't have believed you. The staff had to spend a great deal of time with me coaxing me to eat the food and with a lot of tears this was accomplished.
Since returning home my fitness and diet have improved no end and the amount of compliments I receive is fantastic. The fitness regime and diet are extremely hard work and not for the faint hearted but you return home feeling so proud of yourself and that you have really achieved something. I cried everyday while I was there and really thought I would never go back. Hopefully I will lose more weight by myself but I still think I will be rebooking for next year!
The best bit was waiting in Gatwick airport for my flight home. I was trying to avoid the pub and Garfunkels which would be my normal places to visit and thought I would have a look in Ted Baker. I never go in to Ted Baker as I never think anything will fit, I picked up a gorgeous top in the largest size and thought I would try it on to see if I had actually lost weight. I stepped out of the changing room to have a proper look and the sales lady came rushing over and said "that top is far too big, you will have to try a size smaller"! I was amazed, I took the size smaller from her and as I was putting it on I was thinking how embarrassed I was going to be when I had to give it back as it was too small. I put it on and it fitted perfectly. It is that memory and the feeling it gave me that stays in my mind when I want food I shouldn't have. Nowadays I'd choose that feeling over the chocolate, crisps or bacon roll any day of the week!
Thanks New You Boot Camp
Heather, March 28th–April 4th
Definitely suffering from Stockholm Syndrome! Totally incapable of making a decision on my own. I'm still wearing 'Phys Kit' every day as I can't possibly make a decision about wearing anything else!
I feel totally great, but miss everyone from the camp. You guys do a fantastic job, it can't be easy putting up with all our highs and lows. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm definitely going to do it again next year, trouble is, I can't imagine doing it with different Staff. Anyway thanks so much, I really believe it was life changing.
Lots of love
Jo Davies –New You May 9-16
I don’t do anything at all and I was so tired of diets because they never work, and I always quit them. I needed something to get me fit and also lose weight at the same time, something I can fit into my lifestyle. I really wanted to lose weight but to do it in a healthy way. Thank you to New You Boot Camp, this is exactly what I needed. Even though I got sick during the programme the staff were great and still made me train to achieve my goals, they did not give up on me. Thank you all and keep up the great work.
Thandeka Mathe - B2B 10th May
I’m not sure which was most scary, being met in a car park by Staff Furness who was abrupt and without a smile (this turned out to be a front as he is a total honey) or being placed in a room with the most gorgeous super model type girl who I felt had no weight to lose and standing next to her made me look like a 'weeble'.
Once I had been at Boot Camp a short while it became apparent that in this environment everyone was equal and everyone was out to support and help each other.
Alongside a desire to lose weight and tone up I had really started to lose confidence to get out and do things that had never posed a challenge to me, rides at theme parks, cliff jumping with my children, driving on motorways to name a few. Boot Camp was all about doing things that you would normally avoid. Carting around a huge tree trunk and making the alphabet has never rated highly on my things to do list!
I found the activities an absolute riot, the games were played very competitively (by me) and I loved being part of a team.
The team running the week was amazing. Jacqui and Gilly encouraged feedback and seemed happy to help even with the smallest of issues, like when my bootlaces snapped. I know you didn’t need to know about that but it seemed a huge problem at the time!
The food was fabulous, chef is a genius. I’m still eating porridge made with water despite moaning every morning about the vile texture. I was not hungry at any point during the week, and I have embraced the healthy eating now that I’m back at home. Substitutes were suggested whilst away and all the excuses I had been making for not applying the 80/20 rule have disappeared.
The staff responsible for our training were inspirational, all very easy to look at (gorgeous) and all of us girls wanted to get the most out of our week away. I am still concerned that despite serving in the forces Staff Parton managed to get us lost on an evening hike within minutes of where we were staying and again whilst out running a day later! The image of Staff Penn performing yoga will stay with me and still makes me laugh, I have no idea why it seemed so comical, maybe insanity had set in at this point.
I giggled my way through the week with a fantastic group of girls who were amazing and have come home with so much more than having lost weight and inches. It was a fabulous experience and one I hope to repeat.
Jo Roberts (short) - May 9-16th
Just a quickie note to let you know I'm still on track and its all thanks to you and the boys! Thanks a million!
I hope all is well and that the other Boot Camps are as successful. We all thought it was the best experience - tho' not necessarily at the time... sliding thru mud is not what I think of as "the best experience" but it worked! Give a big hug to Jane and the boys and get in touch if you're ever in London. xx
Anna, Devon, March 8-15th
I didn’t really tell anyone I was going to Boot Camp but have been telling everyone since I have been back – even my clients! I went to a Spa for the day yesterday and got on the scales. They were the medical ones, the same as you use – I am exactly a stone lighter than when I got to Boot Camp. I was in London so I went into Topshop on the way home & I got into a pair on Kate Moss jeans! How good did I feel!
I know I have said it several times but I can not thank you guys enough. I am soooooo pleased I went to Boot Camp, it has completely changed me.
See you soon xxx
Sarah B - B2B, April 26th - May 3rd
By the way thanks again for a great week - it was such an unforgettable experience. I can't believe how much my body shape and fitness has changed over such a short space of time. I'm so determined to keep it up and improve on the results... roll on the summer!
Susan Jack - Back to Basics April 26th – May 3rd
I booked Boot Camp in January when I was feeling awful after all that christmas eating. Thought by going in April I would give myself time to prepare for it. I wasn't really sure what to expect, had a feeling it would be hard work but never imagined I would enjoy it so much! I met some amazing people and we all bonded so well. The laughs and memories we have you can not explain to anyone else!
Boot Camp is hard work but the result you get at the end is so worth it. Everyone had said to me before I went, what about the food? What about the early mornings? I can honestly say the food was great, I was never hungry and the early mornings became a breeze... I looked forward to getting up!
I have to say Boot Camp is the best thing I have ever done. Not only did I lose weight but it has put me back in the zone to keep up with the exercise and diet. I have also realised that it is not only about how much you weigh but the inch loss which is the most important thing. Since I have got back from Boot Camp, I can honestly say I have stuck to the diet and the exercise and I am wearing a dress size smaller! Lots of people have commented on how different I look which is such a nice feeling. That alone makes you want to stick to what you have learnt... there is no going back for me. I had a truely fantastic week and can not thank the team at boot camp enough. You can sense as soon as you meet them that they want you to succeed!
It is so amazing when you consider how much you can achieve in 1 week and I have to say I could not of done that on my own. For anyone thinking about going to Boot Camp, don't even hesitate, give it a go.
Sarah Bass - Back to Basics April 26th - May 3rd 2008
I managed to get a cancellation 6 days before my boot camp experience was due to commence, which, as dates are booked up for months in advance I took as a sign of fate that this was something I was destined to do! After 14 months of unsuccessful and intensive fertility treatment I had gained weight and lost my self confidence - I didn't recognise the body that I faced in the mirror every day... I was depressed! Driving to Wales on the Saturday morning I was unbelievably nervous - what the hell was I letting myself in for? I was also excited that I was taking myself out of my comfort zone and doing something positive for a change.
Well, it proved to be an amazing week shared with a fantastic bunch of people who made me laugh, cry and be proud to be sharing this experience with them. It's tough and on day 2 I thought I would never be able to get through the next five days, but I did and am thankful to all the amazingly caring and professional staff at NewYou who are passionate about what they do and it really makes a difference. This has proved to be a very important week for me as I've learnt a great deal about nutrition and am putting that into practice. I have so much more energy and feel so much more positive which makes me want to continue with the diet and exercise programme which is something I should have done months if not years ago.
A huge thank you to Jax, Lels, Staff Reitz, Staff Fernandes and not forgetting Dave who fed us all week
Jo Smith x - Back to Basics, April 28th - May 3rd
"I wasn't absolutely sure what to expect with Boot Camp - my imagination swung wildly between some gentle yoga on the lawn and forced marches with full backpacks... In fact, it was an absolutely brilliant combination of knackering and fun. And it lived up to its promises on weight loss. The physical training was fantastic - you don't realise what you can do until you are pushed, and that is one of the major things I got from bootcamp. The other big revelation was how little you actually need to eat and that there is no need to feel hungry even though you are eating a lot less than you are used to. So, to anyone who is thinking of joining up - do it, you'll love it."
Alice M - Back to Basics April 20th - 27th
I have just returned from a transformational week at boot camp. The transformation was not just physical, I spent the week with the most amazing bunch of ladies and we quickly pulled together as a team, learning quickly how to act as a team and not just a bunch of individuals. Tolerance and mutual respect were things that just seemed to fall into place with the helpful guidance and edification of the staff, culminating in each of us pulling our weight (less of it now) and being accountable in making the team work. I am delighted with the results and truly feel that this has been an amazing kick start to the new me and I have come away from the course with practical diet and fitness knowledge that I can build in to my everyday life to continue on the journey to a healthier, fitter, more active me. (it’s all about me) J Thank you so much.
Andrea - Back to Basics April 5th - 12th
Thank you soo much for such a wonderful week. Since I got home I can't get rid of the urge to go for a run. I can barely sit still. Also discovered some delightful steps nearby so i'll be taking a few trips to the top of them! Went out and bought lots of wheat free foods, rice milk, oatcakes, hummus, flaxseed etc. I'm down another 2.5 lbs too!
Thanks to Kirstie, Staff Trudge, and Staff Almond too for all their support and encouragement during the week.
Anita - AKA Princess - Back to Basics April 5th - 12th
Before New You Boot Camp I was out of control, it seemed as if my relationship with food and exercise had destroyed my spirit and my once titanic willpower had completely disappeared. I didn't want to go out to work, to socialise, to exist... that all changed during one fantastic week with 13 incredible ladies, two fabulous staff and two 'mummies' on Boot Camp.
From the onset the New You Boot Camp proved to be hard work yet great fun, my fellow boot campers were all armed with a similar determined attitude which contributed to many laughs and many, many proud achievements.
Don't believe the rumours about food portions and quality, both were incredible and I can honestly say I was never hungry (and I'm always hungry). The exercise... yes you will be pushed to your limits, but not beyond. If you give 100% you will get 100%. The sense of achievement always overwhelms any pains or aches. The staff I cannot praise highly enough, how they managed to remain so patient and encouraging among a gaggle of 14 women is a wonder.
It should be noted that I have a long way to go with my weight loss and am not a so called "skinny minny", I was a size 20/22 before boot camp and am now a size 18 and reducing daily. I lost 11lbs and 10.5inches on boot camp but regained my spirit and enthusiasm for myself and life. I am also fitter than ever and now am armed with the knowledge on proper nutrition and exercise to make positive changes in my life. I gained 13 incredible friends on this boot camp and it is my sincere belief that we will remain friends through thin and thin! Thank you for giving me back my life!
Sara T, 26, Ireland - Back to Basics April 5th - 12th
I'm 5 ft 11 and was weighing in at 13st 5pounds when I arrived at NYBC. I was bloated and fat and my skin looked terrible.
One week after returning and I feel amazing. I've dropped another 4 pounds since coming home and feel like I have a whole new wardrobe as fit into loads of my "skinnier" clothes. At the camp I dropped 6 pounds (which doesn't sound like loads) but wait for it... 11 inches! That is more than a dress size... so that's me at 12st 9 now and it's dropping off without trying.
The best thing for me is my spots/skin has completely cleared up now... all my life i've suffered with bad skin and paid a fortune for micro dermabrasion, peels, creams etc. to try and resolve it and it seems the answer was so cheap and simple - sort your diet out!
My diet is effortless. I am never hungry and the week at the camp seems to have adjusted my tastebuds to enjoy real food again not processed rubbish. The food at the camp is delicious and you savour every morsel as you have worked for it.
The exercise was hard work - I refuse to ever leopard crawl anywhere in my life again! However it was amazing fun... particularly the gorging, rock climbing and team games. We had great staff who made exercise fun and varied. They knew what level to challenge us to and how to get the best out of us. I've now introduced different types of exercise to my routine at home - rock climbing, boxercise and circuits
I bought a pair of diesel jeans the other day as a reward and nearly fainted with joy in the shop when I had to ask for a smaller size - I couldnt even fit into diesel's largest size before I was "boot camped". Nothing could ever taste as good as that feeling.
I would recommend bootcamp to anyone looking to change their lifestyle/eating mindset - It's tough but it's meant to be tough. We had a fantastic group of 14 girls and great staff. The weather was fab too which helped. I even had a cry one day and I'm a tough Northern Irish Bird! But I needed this kickstart to make me realise that I'm worth it (or I am enough as Marissa Peer said hahaha - I sound like a L'oreal add now!) - It's cheesy but true.
Thanks so much for everything NYBC.
Rach x - Chief Leopard Crawler 20-27th April NYBC
I wanted to meet new people, challenge myself, get fitter and drop a dress size. Although I exercise regularly and have a trainer, I let myself down in my eating habits when I can be so good for months and then I let it just fall apart. I wanted to drop a dress size in a week and achieve the figure that I have wanted for a long time.
I was searching for something like this, although not the getting up at 5am, so my gut instinct told me to go. I had a fantastic time, met a great bunch of women and really enjoyed working with the PTIs. Since coming back I feel like a totally new person and although it was the hardest thing I have done, it was also the best thing.
Jennifer Hanson – 12-19 April devon
I booked NYBC on a whim and panicked immediately after - like a naughty school child who had spent all her pocket money - I began to sweat and think I had made a huge mistake... "I have just booked into a Boot Camp with 13 other ladies I have never met and I will have no chocolate or 2nds of my lovely roast dinners for a whole week".
How wrong could I be, I arrived at Neath station and gradually in dribs and drabs the other girls turned up lugging enormous holdalls rammed full of gym kits, walking boots and waterproofs (surely I won't have to wear trousers that resemble a huge bin liner?)
We giggle nervously and assume we will be met and blindfolded but our fears are quickly put to one side when a lovely welsh chap pulls in to collect us and we are on our way to our accommodation
Day 1 was a shock to the system with a walk late into the night clambering up a steep hill and in my dulcet tones I promptly shout out in my best Essex "ughhhh my socks are getting wet!"
I will not ruin it for any ladies attending - all of the activities are fab, constant and diverse and the Staff are patient and encouraging at all the right times.
Don't believe the horror stories the food is lovely and getting up early becomes an easy routine and you often beat the morning alarm as your body clock adjusts.
I feel more confident than I have in years I have dropped 2 whole dress sizes and am now following the diet / nutrition plan with an enthusiasm I have never had for previous diets.
I loathe being back at work as I would rather be outside marching, walking, running, playing any team sport I can as I have excess energy that is building inside me... I have had more emotional moments now I am back with flashbacks and I really miss the girls who shared my journey on NYBC.
I can't wait to meet up with them all soon and arrange a sports related reunion.
Since returning I have lost 9.5 pounds, 8.5 inches and gone from a Size 12 to a gorgeous Size 8... Thank you NYBC team especially the Staff Trudge and Almond with whom my successes would not have been possible.
Nutty Nat (Essex) Age 31
IT'S FANTASTIC!
I recently spent a week at the New You Boot Camp and have undergone a transformation in eating and attitude to diet. It has been a revelation and I have also changed my view on appetite; I now "feel ready to eat" instead of "I'm starving" and although I am eating more than I ever have before, I am still losing weight in a healthy balanced way. I feel amazing and have kept to this new way of eating for the last month. This is now my way of life rather than a "fad" or a diet.
I am still following the eating advice from Kate - the nutritionst - to the letter and since boot camp I have eaten no sugar, no refined foods, no wheat and no dairy and I FEEL AMAZING!
I am eating more variety and more volume of food more regularly than ever before and I have a balanced regular diet.
I was 10 stone 3lbs on March 15th when I arrived at bootcamp and I weighed myself today out of curiosity (I never usually weigh myself) because my trousers are hanging off me!
I now weigh 9 stone 7lbs.
I am 5'4" and have a BMI of 23, I am aiming to get an BMI of 21 to get back to a size 10, I am now a size 12 and was a 14 at the beginning of bootcamp.
I no longer suffer from sugar cravings, energy dips, bloating, constipation or a hangover feeling every time I wake up.
I wake up feeling no symptoms at all!
The transformation has been amazing, my skin is better, I feel awake and I have energy.
I am still trying to do exercise at least 2-3 times per week.
If there was one thing I would like to improve it would be to increase my exercise per week.
Having been a size 10 between the ages of 30 and 39, I am now 42 and heading back to my former self and it feels great.
Thank you so much!
Louise Shanahan - Wales New You Boot Camp March 15th-22nd
Since leaving bootcamp I've dropped another 8lbs so just over a stone now, there's still quite a way to go but the Bootcamp gave me the start I needed.
I've been sticking with the exercise, not 10 hours a day, but at least an hour every day, still wheat free, and have not touched tea, coffee or diet coke since I got back. I'm so glad I came to Bootcamp as it's given me a totally new outlook on life, and the courage to change the things I didn't like, so thank you.
Angela x - Hereford 14th-21st March
It's called New You Boot Camp and that is what you get. A New You! I was transformed from lazy to enjoying exercise and healthy eating. I am a better person now, more focused and I have become much more confident and everybody around me is complimenting me – which is something you can get hooked on. This is why I am thinking "when can I go again?" I have lost a dress and half in a week and if you keep up what they teach you, you will get results very quickly.
I will recommend New You Boot Camp to anybody who wants to be pushed mentally and physically to their maximum and who wants life changing experiences, as I was so scared of heights before, but after the activities we did, I felt completely cured.
Thank you new you boot camp you changed me into a more confident, calm and happy person.
Love, Miss J.Wilson – Signature Boot Camp April
'Thank you so much for a wonderful week. It was hard work, yes... but I'm thrilled with the results. Not only did I lose 8.5 inches, my skin glowed and I felt like I had more energy than ever. Everyone commented on well I looked on my return to work and I fully intend to continue implementing the nutrional tips given by Marisa Peer. The Bootcamp staff had an abundance of patience and well needed encouragement during the tough times. I'm already looking into dates to book another week.'
Claire Collins, Grazia magazine
Smug is not a word I would use to describe myself, or the way I feel, but today I am feeling incredibly pleased with myself.
Sat here in my office in London a complete world away from my week at New You Boot Camp in a pair of trousers that prior to the experience used to fill me with dread at the very thought of putting them on – now hanging off my hips!
A week at Bootcamp was the idea of my dear friend Nicola, and during this week with her I questioned our friendship the most whilst sliding leopard style in the pouring rain under a cargo net!
This week does exactly what it says on the packet I lost 10lbs and 10 inches – I found muscles that I didn’t think I had, an attitude that had long since laid dormant reasserting itself and smile that has yet to subside every time I think about the weeks events. I am now a reformed caffeine and salt addict, who has fallen in love with Tap Water, Herbal Tea and Boxing! I have so much energy I scare myself!
Staff Penn, Reitz & Schofield were every bit the educators and motivators. Ensuring we got everything we wanted out of the week. I sustained a knee injury and they showed me that I could still exercise through it to have the successful weight and inch loss I achieved.
Its nothing like the BROWNIES…. Its BOOTCAMP so be fully prepared to work…. There are no gimmicks just hard graft but the results are worth every aching muscle!
Donna (aka TomTom) – New You Boot Camp 28th March – 4th April
I must take this opportunity to thank you for a fantastic, life-changing week. Doris and I will never forget it.
We actually miss going downstairs, putting our hiking boots on and preparing for the day's adventure. It all worked SO WELL.
Not knowing what we were doing from one day to the next, mirrored everyday life. No-one knows what each day will bring, there're no answers. But the fact that we had Staff Reitze and Staff Smith with us every step of the way gave us the determination and inner strength to keep going. Even through the injuries, occasional tears and frustration, it was the best, most up-lifting week of our lives.
We could not have done it without Staff AND the girls, Kelly and Sunny. I'm privileged to have met our fellow campers, too.
The week taught me so many life lessons. Patience, gratitude, team-work, motivation, determination and girl-bloody-power baby!!!
Thank you again guys, it was fan-bloody-tastic!!
I hope to see you all again very, very soon.
Lots of love!
Kerry, a.k.a. Essex. Back to Basics February 23rd – March 1st 2008
Hi Staff
Jax, Emily, Staff Penn, Reitz and Schofield, I just had to say thanks to you all for the last week; for putting up with me being sick and pushing me to challenge my fears. I have to say that it was enjoyable in a weird sort of way and has given me a new lease of life. I have been out and about since I got back and feel so full of life and energy. I still have some personal issues to resolve but I now know where I am going and that I have both the physical and mental strength to succeed. Again I cant thank you all enough.
Debs, March 28th - 4th April Hereford
What a week it was... such hard work but my god worth every second of it. As a group and as individuals we went through highs and lows and came out the end, together.
The staff were absolutely fantastic we could not have wished for a better bunch to take us through our Bootcamp journey (Jax, Emily, Staff Penn, Staff Reitz, Staff Schofield and Chef!). They were professional, patient, understanding and taught us so much which we have all taken away with us. On our last day the Staff gave individual one-to-ones to help focus on a goal or traning programme to take away. PLEASE NOTE; NO PRODUCTS OR GIMMICKS WERE EVER MENTIONED TO HELP YOU MAINTAIN WEIGHT LOSS. The advice made you look at your home, garden and surroundings as a gym so you DON'T have to go out and spend loads of money on gym memberships, special food, or diet shakes, etc., etc.
Be prepared for early starts and late finishes and if you go with the mind set of putting in your "maximum effort" you will achieve something to be proud of and along the way have so much fun too, yes there were a lot of laughs! At times you may think why did I put myself through this but at the end you will be buzzing (oh, and maybe a little bit sore).
I personally have got home on a high, I lost 10lbs and 10.7 inches. I have been for a run in the woods and Sunday morning I was up and out of the house at 8.15 (a lie in by bootcamp standards) and went for a jog/power walk in the SNOW - yes as it was actually snowing - prior to bootcamp I would never have dreamt of doing that. The way I look at my diet has changed and my skin is glowing ! I feel so strong, mentally and physically and I have also signed up for the Race for Life in June.
Once again a massive thank you to all the staff.
Nicola (AKA Sat Nav) - NYBC, 28th March - 4th April
We are on the train and have been very good! H has had some strawberries and has got some humous and oat cakes to eat before she gets her flight!
We met some girls at the station and told them what a fab time we had, so all very excited now!
Jax thank you for looking after us we really have had a fantastic week and have left on such a high. You and your team are fantastic and have been fun, patient and so professional.
Take care and we look forward to seeing very soon.
All our love and hugs!

I have recently returned from an exhilarating… and challenging week at New You Boot Camp. It was one of the best decisions of my life and has given me a whole new outlook on how to look after myself!
I am around 7 pounds lighter and 7.7 inches thinner. People are commenting on how good I look and how much more focused I am on diet, exercising and also in my professional life. The highlight of my week was absailing down a 50ft bridge… whilst singing!
Thank you, to all the fabulous staff who made it happen! I hope to be back at Boot Camp in Autumn or Spring '09.
I hope to be back very soon.
Much love Gemma, Glasgow. NYBC, 28th March - 4th April
What a week!
No one can prepare you for what Boot Camp entails. Apart from the gruelling schedule; the friendship and encouragement received from my fellow boot-campers was a wonderful experience I will never forget.
8 pounds lighter and 8 inches smaller I have been inspired to keep up the good work!
Good luck to all New You Boot Campers - it is well worth all the blood, sweat and tears!

My 7 Step Post Bridal Boot Camp Story – newly wed
1. Identified a need for change as the yo-yo dieting was not working and was unhealthy!
2. Booked up for Boot Camp with my sister in law. Was really looking forward to the challenge - did not really know what I was letting myself in for...
3. Arrived in cold Wales to have my car keys confiscated and my luggage searched for food – ekk some was found...Got weighed in and measured. Met the other women who soon became friends - we all had to endure together, so an early bond was imperative to avoid punishment from Staff for lateness etc.
4 Got stuck into the routine of waking at 5.20am to train all day, only the Grace of God to carry me through until 10pm... My sister in law was cursing me daily!
5. As the days went by I began to notice a change - was always standing in front of the mirror, naked. The girls in my room got used to the regular entertainment each night!
6. Began to realise that all the extra punishment was a blessing – all those push ups had toned my arms beautifully. The punishment was a blessing!
7. Praise the Lord! I survived - walked into the room for my final weigh in and overall results. I was very pleased as I had achieved a weight loss of 11lbs and an inch loss of 11.5. I was more pleased with the latter as my body shape had changed. All the women we're pleased with their results -there was so much screaming to be heard... Now all I had to do was head home to my husband... And indulge in some antics!
Carol Layne - one of the many survivors of Back to Basics Boot Camp, Feb 23rd-March 1st.
Spent a week in Wales in cold and wet weather. Surprisingly this did not stop the intrepid Boot Campers rolling out the door for a 6.15am roll call. The PTs were great, pushed us quite hard but showed a more understanding side when required. My fitness definitely increased and I would recommend to anyone who goes on the camp to put everything they have into it, you will be surprised at the results. It might feel like hard work at the time, but it is worth it. Now nearly two months later, I am still following the advice from Marissa, she changed my eating habits, hardly a chip or piece of bread has passed my lips and I feel much better for it! The weight is still dropping too. Thanks to everyone who made the week possible, especially the Boot Camp staff who were on call for all our needs, rushing to the shops for forgotten items and providing a shoulder to cry on.”
Helena Kay, Back to Basics Boot Camp, Feb 2nd-9th.
After going for my wedding dress fitting in early January…bad time I know!... I decided that something had to change… my size or my dream dress. After getting home from the fitting I was reading one of the many bridal magazines that I had and saw an article on weight loss methods. One of which being the New You Boot Camp. I went straight onto the website and enquired. I had a phone call back straight away and booked that day.
I was so excited on the train down and really nervous especially when the camp arrived to collect us from the train station in military outfits and proceeded to blindfold us to take us to the camp. The camp being an amazing place, in an amazing location.
Started off with a bleep test, and an evening walk. Then the fun began the next day, it got harder and harder, but with each task done a real sense of achievement and euphoria that with each activity down we were all one step closer to the weigh-in and measuring at the end of the week. It was really tough, I would repeat over in my head ‘smaller bum, smaller tum, smaller thighs’ and picture myself in my fabulous wedding dress at the alter with a firm, pert bum. We were told once were past day 3, it would get easier (not in terms of the activities, but in terms of the fact our bodies would get more used to it)! At the end of the day, I would forget at least one activity we had done that day, because we were doing so much!
Towards the end of the week, the talk changed from ‘oh no 5 more days’ to ‘I can’t believe we have only got 3…2…1… days left’. We were part of a team, who would help each other when struggling, would cheer on when finding it hard and most of all when we each got upset (because at some point we each would), we would all rally around, offer support and cheer. The staff, were amazing, hard yet fair and when we were at breaking point they knew to back down and ease off just a touch. The personal encouragement that we each had was incredible, and when someone would say "I can’t do it", their encouragement got us through, and the sense of real achievement and pride that we had done what we didn’t believe we could ever do.
I have come away 8lbs lighter, 10.5 inches smaller, seriously fitter with a much better nutritionally balanced diet, but the best bit is that I have come away more confident, happier and with a group of fabulous friends that have seen me at my best and worst. I am even considering booking again, not so much for the ‘drop a dress size’ but for the sense of achievement that I have come away with, because nothing beats that feeling!
Bethan Rees, March 8-15th New You Boot Camp
The week I spent at Back to Basics Boot Camp - although the hardest thing I have EVER done has also been one of the best weeks of my life. I LOVED the Boot Camp, it has changed my life - I got into a rut of refined foods and my diet has now completely changed, I eat nothing but fresh veg, fish, lentils etc, etc!
My inch shedding is great and the exercise regime has boosted my motivation beyond all expectation. The nutritionist taught me some great lessons and I cannot say enough about what I personally gained from the week. The combination of no wheat, no dairy and constant exercise for the whole week at Boot Camp has stayed with me now into my second week at home. I have had no bloating, no constipation, my skin looks amazing, I look younger, I am not tired, I don't get sugar dips, I know how much to put on my plate, I have started to cook, I now prepare vegetables. I work exercise into my week so that I run or go to the gym at least 4 times a week and it doesn't feel like a chore because I am already starting to see results beyond the 6' inch loss from the Boot Camp week. My clothes are looser, my bottom is smaller and I am ENJOYING food - for the first time in about 15 years I enjoyed going out for a meal last weekend.
I did not go to Boot Camp to lose LOTS of weight, I went for a kick-start and to learn about nutrition and hoped to shed a few inches rather than just pounds. The lessons I have learnt have been INVALUABLE.
I made some good friends and we are all going on holiday together in July to Portugal - what a worthwhile experience the money and early mornings were!
Louise - Back to Basics Boot Camp, March 15th-22nd
I lost 13lb in one week. It’s better than liposuction!
There are benefits from the Boot Camp that go beyond weight.
Theoretically, a roomful of women on a diet should have been a nightmare. But in just seven days, a group of strangers were 100 per cent behind each other. There are women here who've been dealt a bad hand in life, but lacked the strength to take control of it all. Yes, the girls have all shrunk in size, yet by the end I can see everyone has grown, too. In self-belief and determination about the future.
A couple lost more than a stone. Our collective weight loss - between 17 girls - is 174 pounds, and 141 inches. That's a whole person. Best result of all is the 19-year-old who's just lost 12 stone - by deciding to junk her useless boyfriend!
Collective delirium wipes away the memories. "I have never," says one girl, clutching her end-of-course certificate, "never felt this good about myself. Ever."

I went to Back to Basic Boot Camp and came back a different person. I went with reservations. I was overweight, (not just slightly I might add!) unfit and unhappy with myself and used every excuse in the book why I couldn’t do it. I have tried every diet and gimmick available but alas to no avail. Then I saw Boot Camp! The kick I needed!
I met all the other campers and I realised to my horror I was the biggest, panic and insecurity set in. We all were introduced and you find out we all were there for different reasons, some making mine seem minor. We all bonded and became as one and it was now about encouraging each other as we all were here for the same thing. I made some very good friends. Don’t get me wrong we laughed we cried, and we got ratty when we were tired, but we were always there for each other. Food? Firstly you should know I was never hungry! I learnt all about food, understanding nutrition and disciplining yourself. Exercise? Cripes! Where do I start? Oh yeah!! Instructors!! Oh! My! God! Mouth agape gorgeous!!! Ha ha ha! There was exercise in abundance but it was varied, (can’t tell you too much, will ruin it for you) I loved it all, again, there was pain and tears and even tears of laughter. You will be pushed to your limits, I will not lie, but as the inches melt away, you don’t think of your aching limbs. Forget the scales it’s the inches that you want as evidence to the eyes. You only get out of it what you put in! I am a stronger person in mind and body now, I still have four stone to lose, and I will be back for one of those instructors!! So shake your booty girls! If I can do it YOU can. Good luck! Enjoy!
I lost 10lb and 13 1/2"
Denise Watson - Back to Basics Boot Camp March 22nd-29th.
During the last decade my lifestyle had become more sedentary. I began to put on weight and then started yo yo dieting. My weight went up and down and my self esteem was low. My fitness levels began to drop. I hated how I looked and felt. When my friend asked if I would like to go to Boot Camp with her I jumped at the chance. It was just the kick start I needed to propel me back into a healthier lifestyle. It delivered good results. In addition I came away feeling not only slimmer and more toned but I felt much stronger on every level. It has given me back a sense of self belief in what I can achieve and has made me re-assess and re-evaluate my life. I feel totally re-energise and re-motivated to be the best that I can be. Boot Camp was an enriching and life changing experience for me. You all helped me get my life back under my control. So thank you so much! :-)
Lolly (Liola) New You March 14th -21st
I have just returned from the New You Boot camp 11lbs lighter and I feel fantastic!
I was prompted to go after feeling very sluggish and tired for the last few months and I needed to go to Boot Camp to give me a kick start. All the hard work during that week has really paid off. I feel healthy, more toned and it has even made me give up smoking which is a major achievement. I met some wonderful people and we have already booked to go again in October. The accommodation was second to none. I would like to thank all the instructors and staff for their help and look forward to returning again.

My week at Back to Basics Boot Camp is, undoubtedly, the best thing I have ever done. I came away with so much info and so many new tools to help me live a healthier life... I lost 11lbs and 10 inches! However, for me, boot camp became so much more than losing weight and a dress size. I did things I never would have thought I could do, gained so much confidence and self belief in one week and I feel like a better person for having done it. It has helped me take stock of what's important in my life. The people there were so amazing. Wish I was still there!
Claire Beckett, 24, Back to Basics, 23rd Feb - 1st March
I signed up to the New You Boot Camp thinking it was a quick fix easy way to lose a bit of weight to stop me looking like a whale on my first holiday abroad with friends. It has worked (although I was stupid to think it might be easy!) but it has done so much more for me than help me in my battle against the bulge. I feel fit and healthy, mentally and physically stronger and I feel so much more confident in all aspects of my life. The Boot Camp, for me, was such a culture shock, but it’s been a life changing experience and I’m so grateful to all the staff and my fellow A-Team Campers for all of their support, I was so lucky to make so many new friends!
On the last day when I found out I had lost 12lbs and 12.5 inches from my body I was so overwhelmed and couldn’t stop crying, since then I have stuck to the diet, fought temptation, learned to enjoy RUNNING and have lost a further 5lbs, a total of 17lbs! I can’t remember ever being this happy and its all thanks to everyone at the Boot Camp xx
Vicki Smith-Ingram, 19, London, B2B Feb 23rd-March 1st
New You Boot Camp - you quite literally leave the camp a new person both physically and emotionally. I made some great friends, learn't some invaluable stuff and enjoyed myself from start to finish (apart from the 'jumping in to cold water bit' when my usually loud smiley self disappeared!).
I lost 9lbs on the week and have continued to lose weight since leaving 18lbs in total now even with the 80/20 rule! I am considering making it a yearly ritual!
Loved it - thanks to everyone again!
Marie Warwick, B2B Feb 23rd-March 1st
NYBC has made me excited about my life again, there is so much more to gain from the experience than dropping a dress size.
It has enhanced my fitness, mind, body and soul , I have reduced my weight by 11 pounds, my waist by 4 and half inches.
I have gained many new friends and an experience never to be forgotten, I am now armed with all the tools I need to maintain my weight or reduce it further.
The training staff motivated me to give all 7 days 100 % and face every challenge with their support and encouragement.
This is without a doubt the most rewarding thing I have ever done!
Samantha Williams, 35.
"New You Boot Camp is exactly what I signed up for... 7-days cram packed with exercise, portion control and advice on how to keep it all going after I'd left. It's given me the huge boost I was seriously lacking. The team were incredibly supportive, they kept spirits high and there was a lot of laughing in between the blood sweat and tears That 30ft cliff jump (which was optional!) made my week and I returned home with such a positive and healthy attitude... plus I was 11 pounds lighter and have since lost a few more pounds. A fantastic experience."
Katie Duncan (February - Back to Basics)
I attended the December 2007 boot camp to propel me to start working out 'seriously' towards a healthier and fitter body and booty. Call it a last attempt to boost my stamina and prove to myself that I have more energy than a sack of potatoes. NYBC was easily one of the toughest challenge I have ever experienced in my life and taught me a great deal about myself: that my body and mind are much stronger than I gave them credit for and capable of going far beyond that extra bit! I lost 17 pounds in 7 days and feel mentally and physically stronger than ever. Thanks to Marisa's advice and recommendations, I have also changed my relationship with food.
Despite the countless bruises I came home with, I would still like to thank the NYBC Team!
Charlotte Massard, London
After a week of bruises, sweat and tears I returned from New You Boot Camp a staggering 13 pounds lighter and with and 11.5 inch loss.
Would never have believed it possible if I hadn't seen the scales and the tape measure myself.
NYBC is as hardcore as it comes and not for the feint hearted but, boy, do you get the results!

What can I say? I loved the course, and everyone on it, and it was so much more than a weight loss week, which I knowis what your aim was. Thank you for making me see I am worth it!
Cathy Poole - (December Course)
Had an amazing week at New You Boot Camp and felt like a million dollars when I got home. It was hard work but so worth it. Got so many compliments when I got back. Marched straight to the nearest Top Shop and was finally able to glide into the size ten jeans I have wanted for ages. Feel fitter and healthier than ever before and feel very motivated to keep up the healthy eating and daily work outs. It was a real challenge physically and mentally but would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a boost. You will be amazed at what you can achieve in such a short space of time.
Xenia, 33, Clapham
Hi Jacks. I really can't believe the sense of achievement I feel, and emotion! Thanks to you all.
Blondie x (Jane McAlpin, Northern Ireland)
Hey it's Orla. I think this journey home has been just as tough as my stay at New You Boot Camp. Just want to say thank you to everyone again. This has been such a life changing journey for me.
Orla Moore, Sheffield
Just wanted to say how much I have gained from the week. It was not until I drove away and phoned my mum I realised how much. It was not the weight loss or the exercise, it was about positive attitude and learning about myself.
I realise now I work better leading a team than being part of one. Though I was getting there at the end. If I am not leading I tend to go quiet and not put the effort in. But these are all good things to learn about yourself and transfer into work life and I was getting a bit fed up managing people and thought I may work as part of project team but I now I realise what I would miss.
All the people in the group were so inspiring in their own way and I am so pleased I did this. I may not have shown it through the week but I did enjoy it and I am learning not to be so hard on myself.
I thought the staff were so good, really understood what was needed.
