Now the dust has settled I can reflect on what was without doubt one of the most physically challenging weeks of my life. It was also hugely rewarding and ticked all of the boxes for me, namely weightless, improved fitness and something good for the soul. My story is far from unique as it became apparent on New You Boot Camp that everyone there had a story, but having taken redundancy two years ago and then losing both parents in the space of 6 months and then trying to relocate my family back to Asia, which failed dramatically after my wife had a near breakdown, meant I was well overdue for some kind of event that would help me get my life back on track. My weight loss was incredible at 12.5 pounds as was the inch loss of 8 for the week but to be honest it is how I now feel that matters most. I feel like a younger fitter version of the person that arrived last Saturday!

I wanted to boost myself physically and mentally and loose weight so I could return to college in full health to study physiotherapy. The camp was so well organised, managed and timed. The sessions were planned and clearly explained and the variety of sessions made each day a new interesting challenge. The staff at New You Boot Camp Portugal were top class and provided everything so I successfully achieved my weight loss goal and so much more! My fitness transformed in just one week which astounded me and this is the number 1 reason I am returning in January next year. The staff motivated us every step of the way and gave us every opportunity to learn from them. They helped us overcome mental barriers through exercise and motivation and also gave us advice with returning home and how to continue our transformation after camp. Since returning home I am exercising like never before, eating healthy for the first time ever and enjoying it! And most importantly still loosing weight. Just back from your Boutique Boot Camp, lighter, leaner, with all sorts of peculiar bruises I don’t recall acquiring. A hideous ordeal, but so worth it. Fabulous venue, really nice group of women, suitably bullying/encouraging/cajoling staff and I almost wept with Stockholm Syndrome gratitude the morning we got coffee! As an entertainer my job involves things such as squeezing into small costumes, singing on stage and doing a lot of dancing and it got to the stage where I wanted to feel more confident in myself. I have yo yo dieted all through my life going from a size 10 to a size 14/16 and I was truly fed up! I booked New You Boot Camp whilst working in France, I was around 13 stone at the time and as soon as I booked it I started to run twice a week for around 20 minutes and started to eat healthier (this all happened BEFORE I even got there). I bought the New You Boot Camp book and was determined to be lighter before I went.

When I arrived in Wales it was a gorgeous setting with lots of fields and hills (little did I know that the hills would be my worst enemy this week) the group of people there were really friendly and the staff were amazing! Nothing could have prepared me for how hard this week would be; we had to box, run, hike, rock climb, abseil, canoe and many many more things and it started with me wanting to lose weight but ended with me wanting to survive!!! I describe the week as you feel a little like each of the 7 dwarfs through it: Bashful – meeting and sharing rooms with people you don’t know at all, Happy – when you meet the people and they push you to your limit and have a great laugh, Grumpy – when you are hiking up the hills and don’t think you can go any longer, Sleepy – when you have completed a full day and your bed is your ultimate treat of the day, Dopey – when you have been eating fantastic food but the rubbish food is being cleared from your system so you forget how to talk sometimes, Sneezy and Doc don’t really count in my theory but you get my drift! So, days 1 to 3 were the hardest to get through and I counted on my new group of boot campers to help me get through this and they did!!! Then I started to feel better and I could do the challenges easier than the beginning of the week.

When it got to the final day everyone was so happy and proud of each other we had a lovely evening and it was all so rewarding! I lost 6 pounds and 10 inches going from 10 stone 12 to 10 stone 6, but I don’t think it was about the weight loss, I truly feel so confident and I feel like nothing can stop me from doing anything I want to do. I now run 5 miles everyday (which I would think was absolutely mental before I went to boot camp!) and I have never felt better in my whole life! I don’t think its about how much you weigh… its about what you are capable of and what can truly make you happy with yourself just as you are, and New You Boot Camp has made me realise this.

Thanks to all the staff and the chef… and thanks to all my new friends who I met I would definitely do it all over again!

I have to hold my hand up and say that I have lived a sedentary lifestyle for the majority of my adult life. I have had on/off attempts at eating more healthy and exercising but none have really resulted in long term changes despite the fact being overweight and unfit have had a massive impact on my life due to low self esteem.

After hearing about the New You Boot Camp I spent a year thinking about it – I worried that I would not be able to do it – especially as I was 50 years old. I finally plucked up the courage and booked it – 3 weeks before the camp. It was an amazing and thought provoking experience and I am so proud that I did it. A week cocooned away from the rest of the world where the total focus was not only on losing weight but more importantly putting the foundations into place for long term weight loss, health and fitness. I cannot praise highly enough the Staff and the other boot camp employees who were there to encourage and help you every step of the way. I also cannot put into words the camaraderie amongst my fellow boot campers – everyone supported and encouraged each other – and you needed it as there were moments when the going got very tough.

Since returning home I can feel a real difference in myself as can my family and friends. I am following the nutritional guidelines and still losing weight – have lost another 5lbs and never feel hungry. Exercise has become something I want to do and I am loving the feeling. I really feel like I am making life changes that I will stick to this time. I would highly recommend the New You Boot Camp experience – I just wish I hadn’t waited a year to pluck up the courage to do it.

I have been hiding behind my eldest brothers death since 2008, as a reason for my lack of motivation. A lot of factors in my life causes me to loose focus. Since school, I was an excellent athlete and excelled in swimming, long distance, running and achived national colours in under water hockey in school and at university. On the day my brother died I was running the Beijing marathon. As I reached the 22km mark my father phoned to tell me he died. I completed the marathon but every event after that became a drag. The low point was when I quit the London marathon in 2009. I never EVER have quit on an event before. I still trained afterwards but intermittently. Between October 2008 and August 2010 I gained about 6kg. In August 2010, I suffered another setback when I tried Super Kite (Surfing kite). I injured my shoulder and what the surgeon described as ‘ligaments look as if they were sliced through with a sharp blade’ and I had to undergo surgery. The side effects of the surgery were severe and I sruggled to regain my health. I gained another 6kg between August 2010 and Septemebr 2011. Eventually I woke up one morning and thought, I can not go on like this anymore. I told my Hubby I wanted to do the Bootcamp. He offered it as a Birthday gift and I booked it. Somewhere between the first day and the last night, something within me broke. The mental barrier which formed over the last couple of years was broken down bit by bit. And for the first time in 6 years I could see a glimpse of the woman who used to love swimming, cycling, triathlons and training for the pure enjoyment of gliding throughwater and being out of breath after a long run. The most important thing Bootcamp has done for me is to stop my counting. I started counting my steps in the last couple of years to stay focused.1 to 100 and then all over again. On the last day I , doing the 8 hour hike I DON’T NEED TO COUNT! Even though I was in immense pain because of a silly knee, I didn’t need to count. I could focus and press through. My goals for the future are to qualify and compete in the Iron Man and to get back to playing under water hockey (my first love). I am also getting my mind around the idea that I am still capable of making the national squad for under water hockey and will start training for that as well.

My main reason for attending New You Boot Camp was my mental well being. I have had a tough couple of years and haven’t really reviewed myself until I decided to attend camp. My journey from day one has been very challenging in terms of the exercise programmes. However my mental well being never reared it’s ugly head throughout the fantastic week at the New You Boot Camp. My future goals are to take everything I have learnt over the last week and ensure this is implemented into my everyday life. 2 years ago, I was at my final year at school playing regular sport, lacrosse, netball, athletics and was a bit fitter. However I had a year out, that and my first year at uni my fitness decreased and I started to put on weight and dress sizes yearly. I wanted New You to kick start me back into fitness to make regular training from now on easier and to increase fat burn. It has done exactly that. I want to run the London marathon this year or next.

Boot camp was an amazing experience and I am so glad I did it. Not only did I lose 8lbs but I have gained so much confidence. If I can complete a week at boot camp I can do anything! I have signed up at my local Curves gym and attend three times a week. I have also tried zumba and plan to return. Since New You Boot Camp I have lost a further 2lbs and just feel so much more energetic and healthy. I am also trying to adapt my diet and dragging the family along with me. Thank you!

I must say I hated the first few days of boot camp I was so sore and wanted the week to end but then Tuesday came
and I started really enjoying it and when it came to saying goodbye to everyone I felt I could do another few days :-)
It was so so so tough and I didn’t realise what early starts we’d be doing.
I lost another 5lbs the first week I was home and since then I’ve lost a total of 13lbs from when I was first weighed in on boot camp.
When I arrived and found out we’d be doing a lot of running, again I nearly died but guess what I now run 4 mornings a week before work and
do 2 morning in the gym doing weights and tummy exercises.
I must compliment the staff on Boot camp both Staff Ford and Staff Wiles they were amazing they encouraged everyone pushed you to levels they new you
were able to, also Zoe the manager was fantastic so easy to talk to and she looked after us really well. So many thanks to them.
So overall I would recommend it to my friends I even suggested doing a weekend in London with my sister that has baby weight to loose and I told her this would be the best kick in the ass she needs.
It did give me the kick start I needed I was slacking off my morning gym sessions before I went but now I’m up Monday – Friday at 6.30am
and 8am on a Saturday and get my exercise and back eating healthy staying off the wheat and feeling great.
I’ve so much energy since I came back.

All went fantastically well and I truly never imagine to get so much from just a week. Great, great experience- you have been very helpful and I am grateful for all.

I will certainly recommend to my dear friends without a doubt- Staff Yardley and Staff Wiles they are truly inspiring people and gave it their all for us- fantastic pro’s. Not to mention Ros the manager like a dream woman. A huge bravo to the New You Boot Camp you deserve your reputation and beyond.

Finally for the past days I’ve finally enjoy wearing my little summer dresses size 6! And it was lovely to hear so many compliments which didn’t happen with such honesty for years:) I am back!!:)))
